Glee!

Whenever I am feeling down, or just bored, I watch an episode of Glee. And it makes my life so much better. I cannot explain the love I have for this show. It just makes me so happy, and I dont know why. It just does. Season 2 premeires Sept. 21st for all of my fellow Gleeks!

36 Things Every Single Girl Must Do Before She Settles Down: glamour.com

I stumbled upon this article and thought it was interesting....let's see how close I am to being ready to settle down!

To Build Your Confidence…

1. Go to a movie alone. Haven't done this, and not sure I ever will.

2. Lift weights. Check! Although, my max. is 5 lbs.

3. Try surfing, water-skiing, or some activity you don’t already know how to do. Could be riding a bicycle. Hahaha...someday I will ride a bike!

4. Take out the trash, set a mousetrap, do your taxes, build a bookcase. 2 out of 4. I will never set a mousetrap. Mice disgust me.

5. Live alone. Done!

6. Train for (and finish) a huge physical test like a half-marathon. Hmm...running isn't my style..

7. Go to a scary doctor’s appointment by yourself. Check!

8. Quit your job. It feels so good to take a job and shove it (and not be affecting anyone else’s livelihood). I do not miss being a legal assistant..ever!

9. Fly to a foreign country by yourself. A trip to Greece is definitely in order!

10. Learn to stand up for yourself. I told a creepy old man on the dance floor Friday night to not touch me..does that count?!?

To Be Able to Look Back and Say “I Had Fun”…

11. Witness something once-in-a-lifetime. So many things in my life have been once in a lifetime. I think the whole family going to Portugal for Raquel's wedding was probably a once in a lifetime trip that will never happen again..and was one of the funnest times of my life!

12. Revel in being able to watch all the reality TV you want. I'm obsessed with my DVR..it allows me to watch hours and hours of Bravo TV and MTV reality tv. Fist Pump!

13. Get drunk during the day, just because you can. Around the World at GU...I was passed out in bed by 3 o'clock..in the afternoon!

14. Go on a date with someone who actually makes you nervous. Dates make me nervous. period.

15. Go out with an older man who takes you somewhere nice and makes you feel like a million bucks. Still looking for a sugar daddy..taking baby-steps...my top priority is making sure they have a car!

16. Go out with a guy who makes you laugh ‘til it hurts. It's pretty tough to be funnier than me..still looking for this guy ;)

To Get Perspective…

17. Be a good wingwoman. It’s not always about you. Correction: It IS always about me..but I can take one for the team every once in awhile..haha. Isidra and I are known to be a pretty great tag team!

18. Chill with your widowed and single grandma. She knows “alone”! Do this pretty often..and she always leaves me with the best/funniest stories to tell!

19. Volunteer. I love doing this...and don't do it enough, definitely need to do it more often!

To Make You Appreciate the Next Guy…

20. Do at least one Valentine’s Day alone. Ha!! Pretty sure I've done pretty much every Valentine's Day alone...wa wa wa!! Looks like I'm going to be VERY appreciative!

21. Attend a wedding (or 15) alone. Check. Check. Check...can't count how many times I've done this!

22. Date the creeps. You’ll really value the nice guys afterward. DONE!

Looks like I'm going to be VERY appreciative once I settle down!

To Make You Feel Sexy and Attractive

23. Buy yourself some flowers. Check.

24. Invest in a LBD (little black dress) and some sexy stilettos. Done it!

25. Sit at a bar by yourself and drink a martini. Cool. I'll get on this right away!

26. Buy something frivolous and expensive that you LOVE wearing. Probably done this one too many times!

To Make the Most of Your Free Time…

27. Finish all your schooling if you can. I think I'm done for now! Thanks to my amazing parents!

28. Throw yourself into something time-consuming, like learning a foreign language. You may not have time to do this again until you retire and the kids are off to college. I really want to brush up on my portuguese...must find rosetta stone portuguse asap!

To Make Yourself a Better Partner in the Future…

29. Make a list of all your faults. My hand might cramp up if I do that....lol.

30. Learn to cook well. I’m still working on this! Although, I must say I am learning to really enjoy cooking!

31. Get some hobbies. Something’s gotta keep you occupied—plus it’ll make you seem interesting. Working on this as well..still trying to find something I'm passionate about!

32. Let your married friends edit your online dating profile. I don't have alot of married friends...and I refuse to create an online dating profile. This will probably never be accomplished.

33. Get your finances in order. I think I've got my finances pretty under control if I do say so myself!

To Appreciate Being Single…

34. Babysit someone’s baby for an hour. Done this plenty of times..and I love it!

35. Help a friend through her divorce or a bad break-up. Of course I've done this! I'm a great distraction!

36. Host a girls-only night. Have these all the time! Love them!

Looks like I'm almost ready to settle down!!!

The Family Ward

So this weekend I was hanging out with a friend of a friend who happens to be mormon. She was telling a story where she metioned she was at the "singles ward service". This got my attention. I had to ask her what exactly the "singles ward" was. She explained to me that once a mormon turns 18 they can go to a singles ward church service with other single mormons instead of going to a church service with their family. She then explained to me that the singles ward is only for those who are between the ages of 18 and 30 and single (obviously). I then asked her what happens when a person turns 30 and is still single, to which she responded you have to go back to the family ward. This makes me sad. Basicaly if you are over 30 and single, you have to be humiliated and "go back to the family ward." I dont know why, but this has really been bothering me. No wonder mormons get married so young, they don't want to be embarassed and have to go back to the family ward.

I have nothing against the mormon religion. I'm just glad that my religion allows me to go to church with everyone, no matter what age we are!
